David Carmichael has been devoted to preserving and enhancing the professionalism of lawyers. His professional activities and associations include:

DELEGATE to the AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION HOUSE OF DELEGATES.
The Institute was under the supervision of Gerry Spence the famed trial lawyer who lives and practices law in Jackson, Wyoming. The faculty consisted of top civil and criminal trial lawyers from several Western and Midwestern states and was attended by attorneys from many of the Western states of the United States.
That experience led to his being appointed as a POLICE COMMISSIONER for the City of Cheyenne.
The Wyoming Supreme Court twice appointed Carmichael to serve as a member of the PERMANENT RULES COMMITTEE OF THE WYOMING SUPREME COURT. It was the duty of that committee to create and modify appropriate rules of civil procedure to govern civil litigation process in the court systems of Wyoming. Carmichael served a total of eight years on the committee.
The Wyoming Supreme Court appointed Carmichael to be the Chairman of its SPECIAL AD HOC COMMITTEE ON CONTINGENT FEES AND DISCOVERY. The Committee’s members consisted of one Wyoming Supreme Court Justice, two Wyoming District Court Judges, two members of the Defense Bar, two members of the Plaintiff's Bar, and the Chairman. The Wyoming Supreme Court adopted, without modification, the proposed Rule and the standard Contingent Fee Contract form which is required to be executed by all lawyers and clients.
NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF COMMISSIONERS ON UNIFORM STATE LAWS Each state is represented on the Commission which makes Uniforms Acts available to state legislatures of the fifty states. Well over 100 Uniform Acts have been created over the years and exist for subjects which range from the Uniform Commercial Code to the Uniform Trade Secrets Act.
